TACDL President Cynthia Orr Said More Reforms are Needed for Death Penalty

San Antonio defense attorney Cynthia Orr, president of the Texas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, said a long-stalled innocent protection act soon will come to fruition, but more reforms still are needed.

In Voice for the Defense, a TACDL publication, Orr said Texas currently has a Wall of Shame lined with the names of innocent people who were wrongfully convicted of a crime they did not commit.  The law enforcement community should be steadfast in pursuing these reforms, Orr said, and they must take further steps to make sure they are correcting wrongful convictions.
