On July 21-24, the State Bar of Texas will host the 40th Annual Advanced Criminal Law Course, Cosponsored by the Criminal Justice Section of the State Bar of Texas. This event will take place at the Westin Galleria in Houston, TX and will be live-streamed to the La Quinta Convention Center in San Antonio and the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Dallas. Lawyers will be able to receive up to 24 hours (4.75 ethics) CLE credit by attending any of the three locations. Attendees are encouraged to arrive in Houston a day early for “Criminal Law 101” available at the Houston location only.

Course Amenities include a full-day DWI Workshop, half-day workshops on Appellate Law, Federal Law and other topics, and a special session on preparing for the Specialization Exam. In addition, the seminar will feature special guest speaker Michael Morton, who served 25 years of a life sentence for a murder he did not commit. With the help of the Innocence Project and a legal team which included Gerry Goldstein and Cynthia Orr, Michael Morton was set free and formally acquitted when DNA evidence proved that someone else committed the murder.

Gerry Goldstein will be presenting “Justice Scalia and the Fourth Amendment” at this seminar.
